It was a funny year!
It's all I can say about my year of the Rat which ended last night. I was quite busy these days since preparing for the Tet holiday and couldn't finish my conclusion of the year earlier.
The year of 2007 I found Juste une question d'amour and hooked with the film. I love it with all my heart. In the beginning of the Rat year I found the whole new world of Queer as Folk. It's not the feeling of "hook with" or things like that. I just simply can never be my-old-self again because of the series. It's weird but it's not really weird since my friends always say that there is nothing but weird about me. I hang around the fandom and read as many as I've ever remembered of the fanfics. And that helps improving my English as it had never been that way. I didn't think I some days should read the whole book in English (actually I knew I could, I just simply always chose the easier way of reading the translation). And as the fanfics spreads over (to other stories, novels), I found that I read English even more than my mother tongue one day.
I traveled to Egypt. Believe it or not, I finally flied to another continental?! (oh, my poor!) And I flied as in flied on a balloon. It was funny and I love the time on Nile river cruise, and the balloon, and all. It's funny knowing that you can hardly take a poor photo in that country since all the angles give you the best shoots no mater what. I took like thousands of photos in the country. Sometimes I just unconsciously pressed the button and hardly recognized all the affects that marvelous country brought to my photos. Love it!
I returned to Shanghai. I had a cup of Starbucks coffee and a cheesecake in the late autumn afternoon on a busy street in the city. As I always wanted. And I met a nice Italian guy on the Huangpu riverside on a windy day. (Sounds romantic, rite? But it was not like that hehe). I went to Shanghai watching Novak Djokovic on the last Tennis Master Cup event of old rule and he won the Cup. Fabulous!
Some other funny (and not so funny) facts...
I still can not reach the novel Call me by your name. I asked my friend searched on the bookstores when she was in Australia and the people there didn't even know about the book. (!?@?) I searched around when I was abroad but not a single bookstore had the book. The most funny thing about the novel? When I was in Shanghai, I went to the most famous foreign language bookstore in the city for the book. I found that they had Bareback of Chris Owen and no one in the bookstore had a single idea about Call me by your name. Kinky! I finally bought the book at Amazon but since it can never pass the Custom, I shipped it to my Uncle's address in the State based on the fact that he told us he would return home for the Tet holiday. Ok, it all came to an end when he finally announced that he could not take a leave at this moment at work. Poor me! I want my Call me by your name a lot!!!
I found that LJ is out of reach in China.
I like Paulo Coelho and I enjoy reading the Twilight saga alot. Funny, rite? And I finish reading the 3rd book of the saga in English. Oh! More than 600 pages in English. Jeez! I can not believe it myself. Hahaha it's funny, Bella is a Virgo. I love that when she had the argue with Jake about the fact that vampire and werewolf is "ageless" and she is a Virgo. It's funny like hell!
Ok! Guess it's enough for a funny year. Wish you all a better year for the coming Ox year. Love you all so much!
